The One Nation Movement (ONM) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal data of its members. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information in line with the laws of the Republic of Kenya.
1. Types of Data Collected
By registering, you provide us with both personal and sensitive data, including:
- Biographical Information: Full name, Date of Birth, Gender, and Ethnicity.
- Official Identifiers: National ID Number or Passport Number.
- Contact Details: Verified Mobile Number and Email Address.
- Electoral Data: County, Constituency, Ward, and Voter registration status.
- Sensitive Data: Religious affiliation and Disability status (voluntary for inclusivity purposes).
2. Purpose of Processing
We process your data based on Legal Obligation and Legitimate Interest for the following:
- Fulfilling the requirements of the Political Parties Act and submission to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
- Internal party administration, membership auditing, and verification.
- Facilitating democratic participation and internal party elections.
- Sending official party communications and updates via SMS or Email.
3. Photography & Media Policy
Image Rights: By participating in ONM events, rallies, or meetings, you acknowledge that photographs and video recordings may be taken. You grant ONM a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use your likeness in:
- Social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
- Official party websites and digital newsletters.
- Printed promotional materials, posters, and billboards.
- News broadcasts and documentary archives of the movement.
4. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. However, your data may be shared with authorized third parties including:
- Government Bodies: The ORPP and the IEBC as required by electoral laws.
- Service Providers: Secure SMS gateway providers and encrypted cloud storage partners.
- Legal Authorities: When required by a court order or to protect the safety of our members.
5. Data Retention & Security
Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers. We retain membership records for as long as you remain a member of ONM. Upon formal resignation or deregistration via *509#, your data will be archived or deleted in accordance with the statutory requirements of Kenyan law.
6. Your Legal Rights
Under the Data Protection Act, you have the following rights:
- Access: To request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: To update inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erasure: To request deletion of your records upon leaving the party.
